Domaine Sacret Champagne Chambre d'hôtes

We booked breakfast at the Domaine, which turned out to be a very good idea: it was generous and really good. There are bars and boulangeries just a couple of minutes away on foot, and there's an enclosed courtyard for parking plus a large shared balcony where you can enjoy some champagne. Our room was nice, and the complimentary tasting was both enjoyable and informative. The staff were friendly and communicated clearly beforehand about restaurants. We only stayed one night, and ended up buying more bottles to take home than planned.

We arrived after getting held up in traffic, and the staff were really helpful. Reception isn't staffed overnight, but contact them during the day and they're useful and happy to accommodate. The spacious room had a very comfortable bed, and the communal space with its bar was great, with good prices. The champagne tasting and food platter were fantastic too. Ay itself is well worth visiting.

The breakfast is included, and Stephanie makes it herself. There was a generous spread of delicious, high-quality food: cheese, ham, eggs, pancakes, baguette, bread, salmon, fresh orange juice, coffee, and lots of tea. She also led a really nice champagne tasting, explaining the different characteristics and suggesting places to visit in Ay or go for dinner. There was no pressure at all to buy. The family-run Domaine Sacret, run by Stephanie Sacret and her husband, has just four nicely furnished rooms with comfortable beds, big showers, parquet floors, and one room with a freestanding bath. They make their own champagne label, around 16k bottles a year. The other guests were lovely, and we all had a great time. This was our best stay in a long, long time. Everything felt perfect, and we'll definitely come back when we're in Champagne.

The Theatrical room was stunning, and the staff were so friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed the stay at Champagne Sacret, especially the chance to taste their champagnes. Breakfast was very good, and Ay is a pretty village. The lounge and bar would be great to enjoy with a few friends too. Loved it, and we'll return.
