The walk to the footbridge is worth doing, then carry on to Sidonie waterfall.

I was wrong to say the site is permanently closed. I meant the Tour de Castel Vieil itself, the historic tower on a hiking route above the riverbed. It’s closed because the structure could collapse, so it isn’t safe.

It’s a beautiful building, though there’s no sign explaining its history.

Daniel gave us a warm welcome at this guest house. The place has been renovated with real taste.
