BRIT HOTEL & SPA Le Roc au Chien

The location is magnificent, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. Our room was in the building next door, not the main hotel, and it was small and cramped for two people. The ceiling paint was peeling in the bathroom, and there was mould in the shower corners and around the door seals. There were only two electrical sockets, with extension leads being used for the TV, lamps and other things. This room doesn’t appear in any of the booking pictures.

The breakfast had a lovely range of high-quality local products, all fresh and tasty. I especially liked the fresh fruit salad and homemade jams, and the fresh pancake batter was waiting by the pancake machine. The restaurant decor and views were lovely too, and their gourmet restaurant makes homemade meals with fresh local produce. The owners were very friendly, wonderful hosts and happy to help with anything. The hotel has been newly renovated, was impeccably clean, and had comfortable mattresses and bedding. It was warm and cosy inside, with decor that kept an old royal atmosphere. Thanks again for our weekend getaway!

The receptionists set a poor tone when we arrived and left. Neither of the two we met smiled or made conversation, and they gave the impression they didn’t enjoy their jobs. The hotel itself was nice, and the evening meal was adequate, though not great.

The staff were friendly and helpful during my overnight stop while I was heading north to view houses. The hotel has plenty of character, though my room was small and oddly decorated.
