You’ll need public transport for the main attractions, since Novotel Paris Est isn’t in a central tourist area and there isn’t much to do nearby in the evening. Line 3 is only a 3-4 minute walk away, which makes getting around easier. There’s also a city tax of €9 per person per night, charged separately. The hotel is a practical, reliable choice rather than an inspiring one. The rooms are clean and fairly spacious for Paris, and the beds are comfortable, as you’d expect from the Novotel brand. It’s a good option if you want a comfortable stay at a reasonable price and don’t mind commuting, but it won’t give you a central Paris location or much of a Parisian atmosphere.

The team made our stay at Novotel Paris Est lovely, and the rooms were clean and spacious. It’s easy to get into central Paris. Be sure to try one of the chef’s specials at La Manufacture, the restaurant. There’s a lot of local history behind its name.

The room was lovely, spacious and super clean, and the guy who checked us in was really nice. The TV didn’t work, but honestly, whatever. The hotel itself was great. Breakfast, though, was a mess. The lady at the desk charged me 60 euros, then, right after the card reader dinged, told us breakfast had just finished and we’d have to hurry. We rushed to the coffee machine, which sucked, and got mugs of hot water with maybe some coffee in them. They started packing away the food, so we grabbed what little we could: one croissant from a small plastic packet, four cold sausages and a really sad scoop of scrambled eggs. We ate in a rush, like Mr Fox in Fantastic Mr Fox, while they cleared tables around us. The French scorn, the most embarrassing kind. We told someone at reception, but she thought the whole thing was funny and asked if we wanted to pay again and try for more food the next day. Kind of funny, but not really. Losing 60 euros really ate into my shopping budget. I was worried I’d leave Paris without my beloved Rick Owens, but we got the goods in the end. Thank goodness for credit cards and strong will. I’d recommend the hotel, just not breakfast unless you’ve got cash to burn around 9:30 am. Three stars.
