ibis Sète Balaruc les Bains Bien-être et Spa Hotel

We booked one night at Ibis as Accor Platinum members, hoping to relax and use the pool the next day. At 20H30 on Tuesday the restaurant was full, and the receptionist was also serving there, so we waited a while to check in. He acknowledged us and gave us the welcome drink voucher. When we asked about the latest checkout, he immediately said, “No late check-out. Check-out à midi.” We were surprised he didn’t mention whether we could pay extra for a late checkout. We returned after dinner, past midnight, and a different man was at the desk. Asking again, we were told, “Check-out entre 11H et midi”. The next day we contacted the Accor membership call center directly, and they helped with our concern right away. Ibis replied late to the agent, so we were ready to leave at 12H. Before noon, reception called to say we could stay until 14H. She explained that the person on duty the night before hadn’t told us about late checkout because they expected to be fully booked the next day. When we checked whether we could extend our stay, though, the hotel wasn’t fully booked yet. We did get an hour in the pool, but our night to relax turned into more stress. This would have been worth staying for if staff had acted on our concern sooner.

The location is quiet, with secure parking, and it’s an easy 20 minute drive from sete. The building is older, but the rooms are bigger than a standard ibis room. Mine had a large, basic toilet and shower area rather than an ibis “pod,” but there was no hair dryer. Friendly staff. There’s a well being center on site, though it’s popular, so book ahead.

The pool was dirty, and I broke out in a rash on lots of parts of my body.

It’s a good spot, but the wifi was terribly slow. That made working remotely difficult.
