What a charming little inn, and such a bargain. The mattress was great and firm, with high-end sheets. Breakfast didn’t have a huge selection, but everything tasted good. We arrived after dinner, and the owner brought cookies and tea to us in the peaceful sitting room. A heads-up about getting there: GPS will probably send you to the wrong town. Use your phone and open the address here in Google Maps. I wish we’d booked dinner ahead of time. I’m sure it would have been delicious, and the price seemed reasonable.

The place had lots of charm and was in a great location. Mosquitoes were the one downside. We couldn’t really enjoy the beautiful garden or the outdoor amenities because of them. I understood this was an unusual problem that hadn’t happened before, but I’d suggest spraying anti-mosquito pesticide in the garden and across the vegetation.

We came here by chance and stayed three nights. We’d have stayed forever if we could. The region has plenty to see within 15 km, from the Mountain of the Apes and the elsass-wine-street to the High-King-Castle (Hohkönigsburg) and lovely old town centers. There’s something for everyone. The hotel itself is wonderful. Its rooms are each styled in honor of a different poet, and they’re cozy and comfortable. You can choose a small or large room to fit your budget, and even the pricier ones are comfortable. The staff are very friendly, help with everything, and speak French, English, and German. The hotel sits on a very quiet road where you normally don’t hear cars or other bothersome noise. There’s a beautiful garden to sit in, with a river flowing behind it. Dinner was so good we didn’t want to eat anywhere else. For 38€ per person, we got a fantastic three-course menu with suitable wine for each course and some cheese, all included. Everything is cooked fresh and organic in the kitchen next to the dining room, and sometimes you can see what they’re making. Breakfast is 13€. It may sound a little expensive at first, but it’s worth every penny. There’s bread with homemade jam, lovely cheese and meat, freshly baked cake, and a station for making pancakes the way you like them, with homemade fudge or chocolate. There are also cornflakes and excellent homemade yogurt, so you won’t leave hungry. We were sad to go and will be back as soon as possible. They’ll do their best to fulfill your wishes. We felt at home here, which doesn’t happen at every hotel. The staff were very friendly, the rooms were cute and clean, the food was great, and there was Leffe on tap.
