The market-day trip to Rodez was a highlight. It’s a lively country town with plenty of history and charm, and Melania and Roland arranged a bus since we didn’t have a car. They were helpful with advice throughout our stay, and we shared meals with them. They even took us to dinner with their friends on Saturday. From the airport pickup to the ride back after a lovely Monday lunch, they made us feel so welcome. The château is beautifully maintained, with spacious rooms and an extra living room with a kitchen. There are lovely original features, an above-ground pool, and animals around the grounds, including goats, chickens, kitten Henri, and collie Maya, who we enjoyed walking on Sunday morning. We’d happily stay again and highly recommend it.

We hosted a dinner at Château de Balsac and would absolutely recommend it for an event as well as a stay. Roland and Malana are incredible hosts. We had a lovely visit and can’t wait to return!

I came all the way from California, and staying in a castle in the French countryside was exactly the dream I’d hoped for. The place is stunning, with cleanliness and atmosphere that meet international standards. And the owner, Roland, is charming and hilarious.

Rodez airport is only about a five-minute drive or taxi ride away, and you can find plenty of nice walks nearby without needing a car. The area is known for its excellent local wines and “boeuf d’Aubrac.” The château has been completely restored, with very large, elegant rooms. Roland and Malana sometimes serve meals in the main château, or you can rent the whole donjon, which has its own kitchen, living room, and four big bedrooms. The large, beautiful gardens have rabbits, goats, and sheep. Highly recommended!

The scenery is beautiful, and it’s a fantastic place for a wedding. The goats are very hung. Roland did an incredible job putting the place together, and the accommodations meet international standards. They also made some really delicious food. A perfect spot for a place called balsac.
