Cafe Clara was a real highlight. The chef's inventive dishes looked beautiful, and the servers were kind and very professional. The prices are high, but the service and the number of staff available to help with requests explain some of that. We also rented electric bikes and had a fantastic time. Our water-facing room at Castel Clara had been recently renovated and was beautiful, with just the right amount of space for two. The location is amazing. There's no air conditioning, which wasn't too much of a problem for us, though I can imagine it getting impossibly hot in summer. A fan in the room might help. The spa needs work. There was peeling wallpaper, cracked tiles, a moldy smell and rust, and the place had a bit of an 1980s hospital feel. It seemed geared more toward older guests. We understand renovations are expensive and that the hotel is tackling them gradually, but we wouldn't return for the spa. The outdoor pool, though, is very nice.

We didn't stay at the hotel, just came for lunch. On a perfect Saturday afternoon in early September, sitting on the terrace was lovely. The food was good and the service excellent, with an exceptional view.

The room was good for the price, but the hotel's upkeep could be better, including the pool grouting. Service varied. One receptionist was neglectful, while others were wonderful, and one gave us good advice about getting around. We weren't shown around on arrival. The first thing we heard was, "you did not reserve the restaurant and it is full". The wait at the barbecue area could also be long sometimes, and it seemed they needed more staff.

This was about our sixth visit to beautiful Belle Ile, and we were especially pleased with this stay. The food was better than ever, and the service was exceptional: warm, attentive and professional throughout. Amaury (sp?) stood out as particularly gracious and helpful, and seemed very well trained. We'll be telling our friends and acquaintances how pleased we were.

A quiet spot by the sea with a stunning view and a gentle touch of luxury. You can sit indoors or out on the veranda, and both are lovely. The menu is small and centered on seafood. The oysters were very fresh, and went nicely with a glass of delicate wine. Most of the food is healthy and well balanced.
