We’d already driven an extra 70 km when we found out there’d be nobody to open the door. We’d booked by phone and had confirmation, including for our late night arrival, so being left with nowhere to stay in the middle of the night was awful. All I heard on the phone was, “sorry, problem, bye.” You can’t confirm a room and then abandon travelers like that. This isn’t how to run a business.

If you’re traveling by bicycle, the location is handy, just a few meters from the Euro 6 cycle route. The owner is exceptionally nice and friendly, and the rooms are reasonably priced. Bikes can stay overnight safely in the former pub area beside the somewhat chaotic reception. The restaurant has closed, but there’s a perfectly decent pizzeria a few meters away. It’s certainly no grand hotel.

I’ve stayed in basic hotels before, but this place was disgusting. Everything was dirty, and the bed was filthy, like it hadn’t been changed since the previous guests. I didn’t sleep a wink. Pets are allowed, but there’s no mention of getting the worst room if you arrive with a dog 😮 I’d have slept better in my car!
