I didn’t take any photos. The price was reasonable, but our first impression was a reception desk with a note saying “I will be back in 5 minutes.” I rang the bell, waited five minutes, then went for a 10 minute walk outside. When I returned, the same note was still there. I rang again, and a guy finally appeared. He was friendly, but his body odour was the worst we’ve ever experienced, like old sweat. That left such a bad impression that we cancelled the rest of our stay. We thought the rooms smelled too, and didn’t trust that the bedsheets were completely clean. We’re used to smells and aren’t usually sensitive, but this was bad. Find somewhere else.

Everyone on staff was friendly, helpful, and welcoming, and the room was clean with excellent soundproofing from the street. But for the price, too many little things were off. The room felt dark and gloomy during the day, the fridge was loud, the in-room safe (coffre) wouldn’t open, and the shower stall overflowed at full pressure. At a cheaper place, I could’ve overlooked these small problems. Nice hotel, but overpriced.

We especially liked the quirky, original decor. The room was comfortable and well equipped, the staff were friendly, and breakfast was excellent. It’s also very handy for both the port and the city center. We had a lovely stay.

The location is nice, but I wouldn’t recommend this place. The room was okay, just not worth the money, and the restaurant at the hotel was closed. The photos made it look much nicer than it was, and although I booked a room shown with a balcony, mine didn’t have one. The lady at reception didn’t even know there was a room with a balcony. She seemed to judge me whenever I ordered a glass of wine, and the man on the night shift kept having a go at me for drinking and having someone over. It all felt uncomfortable. The fridge made a lot of noise at night, and if your phone doesn’t charge wirelessly, there’s only one other place to plug it in. On a brighter note, the two ladies who checked me out were very nice, probably because I’d complained.

We didn’t even stay at the hotel, but the staff helped us through a difficult situation with a smile. The service and hospitality were wonderful. I’ll definitely stay there next time just for that experience. All hotels should treat their guests this way. Great job!
