Les Altheas

Les Altheas is close to both the village center and the lake, which worked really well for us. We went before the season to unwind and hike, and the stay lived up to what we hoped for. The owner was welcoming and stayed available all week with advice on just about everything. We'd return!

The rental had everything we needed, and the host was friendly with helpful tips for places to visit. There was even a travel journal to look through. After the climb, the magnificent view made the relaxing spot well worth reaching. Thanks for suggesting the little gorges, they were absolutely beautiful.

The views over the surrounding area are superb, and the accommodation is lovely and practical. The path up is steep and narrow, so be ready for that. The lake beach is 400m away, with lots of activities nearby. There are two bedrooms, though one has no window. The staff were very welcoming. Highly recommended.

We only booked one night and ended up wishing we could stay longer. The place is clean, pretty, and simple, with a balcony overlooking Sainte Croix where we watched the sunset and later the stars. The host was very kind and checked whether we needed anything while we were on our way. We needed towels, and she made sure we had them. There’s a kitchen and washing machine, so you can shop for groceries and cook. We made dinner there, and the BBQ girl was around too. You'll need a car to get here. For the view, I'd pick the room on the outside edge, nearest the parking lot and entrance. It's a lovely, affordable base for the Gorges du Verdon or Lake Sainte Croix.
