We hated having to leave, and all agreed we’d come back, which is unusual for us. The homemade breakfast was lovely, and our host reminded us of Julia Child, with her gentle conversations and helpful local advice. The rooms have beautiful hardwood floors and wonderfully soft, comfortable beds. They’re spread over multiple stories, with the old-house squeaks that come with them. The website doesn’t really show how unique the accommodations are. If you need a place to rest while touring the city, this is a great choice.

The location in the heart of Bayeux was hard to beat, and it was handy for visiting the historic D-Day sites. Sandrine was a fantastic host and added to our enjoyment. Our room had a large bed, plus an attached room with a single bed. Everything was spotless, the rooms were a good size, and the decor was stylish. Highly recommend!

After I accidentally parked in one of her spots because my hotel’s directions were unclear, this woman covered all the windows of our rental car with stickers saying it was illegally parked and would be towed. They blocked our view, so we couldn’t safely drive, and removing them risked damaging the car. It was an ugly thing to do. Fortunately, so many other Bayeux residents have been wonderful that it hasn’t spoiled our trip. She was extremely unfriendly to tourists.

Be careful about when this property charges the deposit. It took a 50% deposit two months before it was authorized to do so, even though the terms said it would be charged 30 days before the stay. We had reserved two rooms for a few days, so it was a substantial amount. When we had to cancel well before the cancellation window closed, the property refused to return money it wasn’t supposed to have yet. We had to go through our credit card company to get it back.

A beautifully renovated chambre d'hote in the center of Bayeux, ideally placed for visiting all the Normandy Overlord sites. The best in Bayeux.
