Bayeux is easy to explore on foot, and Aggarthi is in a handy spot, close to good places to eat and just a block from the tapestry, once it returns. We’d happily stay there again when we come back to town. The gardens are the first thing that grabbed us. We dropped our bags and just stood looking around. Cats, chickens, and geese wander about, with plenty of quiet places to sit. It’s lovely scenery for a glass of wine and a book if you haven’t packed your schedule too tightly. Diane met us when we arrived, helped with parking, and showed us around. She even carried my wife’s suitcase up the stairs herself, which was quite a show of strength. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with a beautifully tiled en suite bathroom. Breakfast was a real treat, served at a shared family table where we got to chat with other travelers.

A peaceful courtyard with rabbits, geese, and chickens is one of the nice touches here, and having a kitchenette was handy for putting together small meals. Dianne is a warm, attentive host, and the breakfast she serves is delicious, with croissants, cheese, coffee, tea, and plenty of extras. The rooms are spacious, the beds comfortable, and it’s an easy five-minute walk to Bayeux Cathedral, shops, restaurants, and the riverside path. A lovely place to stay in Bayeux.

The room worked perfectly for the three of us, with one double bed and two singles. It was quiet and comfortable, and the owner was very friendly. We also loved the dogs. The B&B has a beautiful garden, and it was easy to walk around town from here. The location was especially convenient for visiting the Bayeux tapestry. I’d stay again if I return.

We really enjoyed the shared breakfast table, which turned out to be much more fun than I expected. There was French toast, scrambled eggs, yogurt, granola, pastries, and plenty of coffee. The hosts welcomed us, gave us information about Bayeux and the area, then let us get on with our plans. Later, we could sit outside under the trellis in the lovely garden. Our room was in a converted 17th-century stable house. It stayed cool in June, the beds were very comfortable, and the en suite bathroom was great. The location made it easy to walk all over Bayeux, including the Cathedral and the central streets with shops and cafes. Parking was secure and conveniently located just down the block. We hope to come back.

We left and found another place to stay after discovering that both rooms were dirty, with hair and dirt on the floors, black mold or mildew on the curtains, and a toilet that wouldn’t flush. We’d checked in as a family with children on 6/16/25 and had planned to stay three nights in two rooms, through 6/19/25. When we asked Diane, the owner of Aggarthi B&B, to clean the rooms, she said we were making excuses and had brought the dirt in ourselves. We asked for our money back, but she refused. Booking.com told us it needed photos before it could issue a refund, so we returned to hand back the key and take pictures. Diane and her boyfriend both tried to take my phone. Her boyfriend grabbed my arm and scratched me while trying to overpower me. He threatened to hit me if I didn’t leave right away, while Diane kept insisting that my money was hers. I got the pictures and left on my own as they pushed me out of the building.
