Logis Les Remparts

The owner was very welcoming, and all the Bayeux gems are within walking distance. Our room was lovely and super clean, with an extremely comfortable bed. The house is in a quiet neighbourhood near a small park, so we slept like babies. I definitely recommend this bed and breakfast for a stay in this beautiful city.

The location is great and the rooms are nice. I’d suggest adding a small fridge and a box of facial tissues. My only complaint was check-in at 5 pm, which felt late after a day of visiting World War 2 sites.

The room was charming, central and good value, but the service and my experience overall were very disappointing. The owner was rude, with mixed messages and emotional reactions. There was a kettle, sugar and cups in the room, yet she insisted we buy our own tea and coffee, even though all the shops were closed. Breakfast was basic. When my husband asked to bring me coffee and a croissant because I’d fallen ill and couldn’t come down, the hotelier had an outburst. The owner later presumably reflected on it and brought coffee to my room. I was unwell, and we were 30 minutes late checking out. We weren’t sure of the checkout time and hadn’t received any reminders, but the owner literally frogmarched us and all our bags from the room to the street. There were no pleasantries or offer of help. Not a nice experience at all. I’ve edited this review since first posting because I’ve become more upset as I’ve thought about how appallingly we were treated, especially compared with the other hoteliers we met on the same road trip in the same region, as my reviews show. We’re now in Dinan, where the new young owners have bent over backwards to help me get to a doctor and welcomed us with fantastic, genuine service, enthusiasm and a smile. If you don’t like serving the public, you need to give up hospitality. It’s a vocation you need to genuinely enjoy.

We’d all return if we come back to Bayeux. The owners were kind and helpful, especially when my father-in-law got sick during the trip. We don’t speak French, but they helped us phone different professionals. Logis Les Ramparts is a beautifully preserved, historically relevant middle age hause, just five minutes on foot from Bayeux’s main street. At the entrance floor, a glass wall gives a clear view into the old seller-turned-adega. The place was spotless, perfectly decorated and in an unbeatable location. Our attic room stayed breezy with the windows open, even though it was over 30 degrees outside. The bed was comfortable, the sheets soft and the pillows great. We were lucky to get a bed here. We’d give it 10 stars if we could!
