B&B HOTEL Angers 1 Beaucouzé

The microwave in the main reception area is especially handy, and seems to be available at the hotels, so it’s possible to prepare your own food. My husband and I have coeliac disease and can’t eat gluten, which makes dining out in France tricky. Being able to self-cater makes travel possible for us. The place itself is basic, comfortable, clean, and very good value.

The receptionists were stunning, and the hotel is nicely placed for work, about 2.5 km from Politecnique. There’s free parking just across from a Grill Restaurant, and a cheap fuel station nearby. The problem was the invoice: they don’t seem to read the notes or billing instructions from Booking. I had to call and give all the details again to get it right, and even after printing it, they wanted to make corrections.

The shower had great pressure and reliably hot water, and the staff were helpful and friendly. The room was clean and comfortable, with a desk and chair, though there wasn’t much spare space. Breakfast was a decent buffet for a couple of days, but I’d get tired of it after more than three. Good value for a short stay.

Breakfast was excellent and really good value. The Wi-Fi sometimes dropped out, so I had to log in again. Check-in was difficult because nobody was on site, and I had to use the help service to get a code. The room code never arrived by email. Otherwise, the hotel delivered what I’d expect from a lodge in this price range.
