Le Beaugency

We stayed here as a family from Switzerland, but that was maybe 10 to 15 years ago. There was renovation work going on, so everything was cluttered, and the shower head had verdigris on it, which made me worry that showering might not be very healthy. Still, I'm happy I found the place again on Google Maps. Despite those criticisms, I'd go back. The food was quite nice, I think I had tarte tatin, and the place was a pretty unique experience.

We slept well even though the hotel is beside the road, since our room at the back was very quiet. It was also spacious, clean, and comfortable, with a door onto an enclosed courtyard full of flowers and green-covered walls. The hosts were lovely. There’s a restaurant at the hotel, and plenty of bars, cafés, and other restaurants around the charming village. Great value.

We could leave our bikes in the hotel’s dedicated storage and relax for the rest of the day, which was a real plus for us as cyclists. The staff were kind, and the hotel was comfortable and well priced. Our room had no air conditioning, but it stayed cool. There’s a nice garden with a playground, and breakfast was included in our booking. We enjoyed the traditional French breakfast in the restaurant.

The hotel sits on the main road, but it was quiet, and the medieval village is close by. We found the place really charming. It’s an independently run little hotel, with great beds, a good shower, and everything immaculately clean. The owners are very friendly and are comfortable speaking English. I’d happily recommend it.
