Le Relais des Templiers

We got a warm, friendly welcome from the hosts at this small hotel in a lovely old town. There’s a secure, convenient place to store and charge bikes, with access from inside the hotel.

The host noticed we had a lot of luggage and kindly gave us a ground-floor room. Such a sweet gesture. The room and bathroom were clean and comfortable, and the hotel is in a great spot. It’s a lovely little place, and we’d come back.

The location is right in the middle of town. I stopped here on Christmas Day while driving from Spain to Belgium, and the man I think was the owner was very friendly and spoke English. The room was lovely and so warm I had to turn down the heating. We paid for breakfast and enjoyed it.

The owner couldn’t speak any English, but he was incredibly helpful and accommodating. When my niece’s suitcase started coming apart, he took me to his workshop, lent me a screwdriver, and gave me a drywall screw. I was able to fix the case well enough for it to last the rest of our trip without trouble. We were there for one night with our grown children, their children, my sister, and a niece. Breakfast is worth having if you enjoy coffee, fresh croissants and baguettes, cheese, ham, and the like. It’s served in a beautiful, quaint dining room. Just a short walk away, there are several restaurants on a flower-lined street with a small stream running alongside it. If you can’t enjoy a place like this, you’re missing something that makes life enjoyable.
