L'Ancienne Ecole

We had a fantastic holiday in Beaumont du Perigord, with so much to do in and around the village. The Monday evening "Marche des Gourmands" was a treat, with local farm food and drink and live entertainment. We also enjoyed the morning markets, craft fairs, shops, galleries, walking trails, and evening events on the square, including Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet," which we watched from the nearby bar. For a small village, there was a lot going on. L'Ancienne Ecole is spacious, bright, and beautifully furnished, with room for everyone to have their own space even when full. Outside, there are different spots to sit in the sun, a lovely pool, and a shady dining area. Isabelle and Paul were friendly and welcoming, and went out of their way to make sure we had what we needed. The house is a two-minute walk from the village square, where you'll find various shops, two bars, and an excellent pizzeria. Chez Claudette is just up one of the little lanes, and another restaurant is only a few steps from the house. It's also a great base for visiting the area's other bastide towns, including Montpazier and Issigeac. Nearby Bergerac is worth a visit too. I'd highly recommend a stay.
