Opus 15 - Beaumont

The rooms were artistic and creative, and extremely comfortable. My whole group loved everything about this best kept secret!

We celebrated an anniversary here, and it's a lovely place to remember, especially for couples. The hotel is right in the heart of Beaumont-en-Auge, an authentic little village in Pays d'Auge. Cross the square for a morning coffee on the terrace opposite, then walk a few steps to a spectacular valley view. The hiking trail starts to the right of the viewpoint. There are a few nearby shops and excellent restaurants serving homemade food with local produce. A short drive takes you to the seaside, and you can enjoy the lush countryside, ride beneath tree tunnels, and explore the beautiful Calvados region. Parking is easy, even in summer. Rates are a little high, though you may be able to negotiate a last-minute deal. Laurence is a pleasant host with an artistic soul, always looking for new paintings and art objects, and the place is decorated with great taste and finesse. The rooms are elegant, spacious, very comfortable, and have a beautiful, pleasant bathroom. This is a charming, small-scale hotel with sophisticated, original decor, peaceful nights, and a relaxing stay. We couldn't enjoy the hotel's common areas, unfortunately. We did have to wait 45 minutes to get inside, but used the time to explore the village, and there were no further problems.

A unique, charming hotel and excellent value for money. The receptionist was lovely and accommodating. We skipped breakfast, but the hotel's commitment to customer satisfaction really came through. Thank you for a magical moment.

We had an okay stay at a pleasant establishment, but the payment issue means I won't return or recommend it. When we checked out, we were told there was an extra €20 charge for Saturday. Yet the same person who took our payment had first spoken rather curtly on the phone, saying the Philosophers' Room was still available for 160 euros per night and that they had had a tough day. They knew we were arriving Saturday, and Booking.com showed the same price. We had booked last minute for a Saturday night, the final weekend of the February holidays. We saw the room on Booking.com for 159 euros and called Wednesday evening to ask about logistics, COVID measures, and whether we could bring food because we had a baby. We were told to call back the next day. Five minutes later, they called us back and offered to hold the room until the following day, with the reservation to be finalized at 10 a.m. We did that, completed the necessary steps the next day, and left for Beaumont-en-Auge on Saturday morning. I found the extra charge inappropriate.
