Le Petit Logis

I showed up five hours before my 5 o’clock booking, and the manager still let me check in. He could’ve left me waiting, but he didn’t. Really cool guy, thanks.

The hotel was spotlessly clean and welcomed me with a small bottle of chilled water. I was cycling along the Loire for the night, and it was well set up for charging bikes without removable batteries. Breakfast came with pastries and pancakes, plus homemade compote and jam. The location is the one small drawback, though Guinguette Bamboche and a few other nice places to eat are close by by bike or car.

It’s a nice little hotel for a night, but the details at breakfast and in the room let it down. We couldn’t choose the heating or air conditioning, and the caretaker controlled the room temperature himself. Breakfast included expired yogurt, and the bottled orange juice had no date; there was no choice of orange or apple juice, or savory food like ham or hard-boiled eggs. Such a shame.

We were greeted warmly, and the bed made for a wonderful night’s sleep. Breakfast was generous and delicious, with homemade jams. We’ll definitely return!
