Un balcone su Montecarlo

I’ve stayed here for 8 years without any problems. The room is clean, straightforward, and larger than usual, good for sleeping. The elevators take a little getting used to, but they’re easy to navigate.

The morning view is amazing, and the rooms are pretty big with large TVs, though they’re pretty old. The reception was rude and didn’t care about our problems. The Wi-Fi was snappy, but the first code didn’t work, so we had to get another one. When the dishwasher ran out of salt, they didn’t care, and the washing machine felt like a ripoff.

We ended up driving on to Italy and sleeping in the car at a gas station. It was late, and our choices were to pay over a thousand dollars for another nearby hotel for the few remaining hours or keep going. We got there around 10pm after an 8-hour drive, but the hotel was closed and there was no staff onsite. During the drive I’d tried several times to call and say when we’d arrive, with no answer. The late check-in number on the door also went unanswered. I pounded on the door for about 15 minutes until another guest let me into the lobby, tried calling again, then finally called Expedia at about midnight. I’d booked on Expedia’s app on the way to Monaco. Expedia said there were no refunds, but they’d advocate for one. The hotel denied it, even though the failure was 100% their fault, so I opened a charge back and recommended everyone stay away from this location. UPDATE: After a couple of months of fighting American Express over the charge back, the hotel finally gave up and accepted the refund.

The view is great, and there’s an elevator straight down to Monaco. Stores and a few great restaurants are close by. The garage isn’t tall enough for vans, though.
