Chenal Hôtel

I'd give it 3.5+ stars if I could. It's better than just okay, but I didn't like every part of the stay. The beds, shower, location, and cleanliness were good, and the staff were helpful, polite, and informative. The Bulldog Cafe is downstairs and connected to the hotel from inside. There's also an evening restaurant and a bar next door, the super-centre is a 15-minute walk away, and the bus stop for BVA is five minutes away. It's an old building with rebuilt rooms. The windows look very old-fashioned, but worked fine, and the room stayed warm in winter. There are three floors and no elevator. With my big suitcase, getting upstairs through the extremely narrow access, corridor, and stairs was quite an exercise. Wi-Fi didn't work on the top floor. Neither of the two networks worked, one due to authentication and the other to signal strength. Staff couldn't fix it before I left.

The room was very clean and had plenty of space for our family of four, including bunk beds. It's conveniently right by the train station and a cute park.

We ended up here after high winds caused our flight from Beauvais airport to be cancelled. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and their very good English made things easier. The rooms were perfect and exceptionally clean. We couldn't have asked for more.

We had booked this hotel through Booking.com for June 6, but apparently it had closed a couple of months earlier and was no longer operating. We had to find somewhere else.
