Camping la Tuque

It’s a very quiet spot in the French countryside, though a good supermarket is 10 km away. The large tent pitches are mostly at least a little shady, and the pools are good. Toilets and showers are kept clean. The staff are polite and know their stuff, and most campers, over 90%, are Dutch, as is the management. After unloading, you need to leave your car in the central parking area. There are lots of small children and fewer teenagers.

The quiet after dark is a real relief, though the lack of night lighting makes the place feel pretty basic. Once you’ve settled in, the car has to go in one of the parking areas. The site is car-free, very green, and spread across different levels, with pitches that all feel different. Everyone was very friendly, and there’s a restaurant serving à la carte food.

There’s a serious shortage of staff, which means a seven-minute walk to the toilets, and the facilities weren’t very clean. A lot of the site, including the pool and grounds, felt run down and poorly maintained. The owners seemed extremely stressed and were very unfriendly. The pool has slides and is nice, but it’s cold, unheated, and extremely busy. The campsite is spacious and shady. The food tasted good, but portions were tiny for the price, 8,50 eur for a panini, and we waited a very long time at the restaurant.

The mobile home had plenty of room, and the kids were especially happy with the pools, particularly the one with the slide. We didn’t feel crowded at all, there’s lots of space. We spent 7 nights at Camping La Tuque with my husband and our two children. It was a lovely change of scenery and a chance to completely relax among all the greenery. Aurélie was incredibly welcoming and friendly.
