Best Western Plus Hotel Belfort Centre Gare

Be careful!! The room smelled awful and had bed bugs. Absolutely disgusting. I don't recommend this place to anyone. There's a reason the price is low. edit: you won't find my first or last name because I was the group driver.

The free Nespresso in the lobby was a nice touch, and getting to the hotel is straightforward: it's beside the train station, with a well-lit road connecting it. We did feel uneasy about Belfort at night after seeing some drug users on the way to dinner, including one person passed out. Our room was comfortable and had the usual hotel amenities, and the bathroom was clean, modern, and well kept. The staff were extremely friendly. We really enjoyed our stay, though I wish breakfast had been included. With the location being so convenient, a slightly higher price that covered breakfast would have felt fair.

The hotel is right by the station, yet we barely heard it because the windows worked well. Breakfast was good, though it could have used granola or seeds, and the scrambled eggs weren't good. Our room was very small. For two people, a single sachet of instant coffee and one serving of milk felt a bit meagre. The bigger frustrations were the bathroom lights and the curtain. One bulb was completely out, while another kept switching off and on every few minutes. We told reception after the first night and were assured it'd be handled that day. Later we got a call saying it would be done the next day, but the lights still weren't fixed and the curtain was still hanging crooked, so we couldn't properly darken the room at night. The bathroom was too dim to shave or put on makeup. After night two, there wasn't even extra toilet paper. For a hotel in this category, it could have been much better. It wasn't an entirely worthwhile stay.

We had a really enjoyable stay. The buffet breakfast offered plenty of tasty choices, and the room was comfortable and air-conditioned. Staff were pleasant and helpful. The location worked well for us: the hotel is across from the train station, and the old town, with its sights, is just a short walk away. A very good place to stay.
