Gîte Belle-et-Houllefort, 5 pièces, 10 personnes - FR-1-376-82

After a long walk from Calais, I arrived late with my dog and the owners made us feel very welcome. They showed me around the farm and explained that it was an educational farm. They even offered me a place to pitch my tent under a roof in case it rained. I really appreciated their kindness.

The setting and the surrounding area were nice, but several things weren't ready or clean. The pans, dishes and cutlery were dirty, and the shower didn't work properly. We tried to clean up ourselves, but there wasn't proper equipment, like a mop, dishwasher tablets or cleaning cloths. We were still charged a three-digit amount for extra cleaning.

The location is nice, but the service was absolutely horrible. The showers were broken and couldn't keep a steady flow of warm or cold water. The refrigerator smelled like something had been rotting in it for weeks, and it didn't get cold at all on the first day.

There were lots of broken things, including the water boiler. The dishwasher had no detergent, either. We cleaned the house, but still got charged extra for cleaning, a three-digit amount. I'd avoid this place if you want to be able to trust the owners and have a house without broken items.
