Clean, spacious rooms and friendly staff. A very nice hotel for families.

They charged €72 at checkout even though the online price was €67. There was a bad smell all through the hotel. In summer there’s no air conditioning, just a big noisy fan, and in winter there’s no heating, only a noisy space heater. The coffee machine was broken, nobody served in the breakfast room, and the pastries were dry. Breakfast cost €11, though I’d say it was worth €4.50 at a bistro. A complete rip-off. Avoid at all costs. Hasta la vista, baby.

I wouldn't recommend staying here. Expedia showed my booking, but the hotel may not have secured it. Even if you book through Expedia, make sure ahead of time that the reservation is confirmed. There was nobody at reception by 8:00 p.m. I waited around 20 minutes before staff member A arrived, but communicating with him in English was difficult. He called staff member B, and A told me, "There is no room for you." I had no idea where to go. Staff member C then arrived, but she also struggled to communicate in English, so I was put on the phone with another English-speaking employee, probably B. They said Expedia had the reservation, but the hotel hadn't prepared a room for me and had nothing available. With few hotels nearby, I was told to go to another town and head straight to the train station. The next train was just over 30 minutes away and ran only once an hour. The station was about a 25-minute walk, so I rushed there and had to find somewhere at the last minute in Lyon, where I stayed instead. Two days later, on November 22, I noticed a charge for accommodation under the name "Hostellerie Bell" on my credit card, for reasons I don't know. The hotel may be engaging in fraudulent billing. Added November 28 at 6:43 PM: The hotel still hadn't answered calls or emails. Expedia handled the matter promptly through chat and issued a refund. I'm grateful to Expedia.
