The chef, Jean-Michel, brings real passion to every dish, drawing out the flavours of local ingredients and combining them into a wonderful burst of taste. I’ve eaten at gastronomic restaurants around the world, and Aux Terrasses has its own special touch. It wasn’t the Michelin stars that made it stand out for me, but Jean-Michel’s vision of flavour. We came while our son was visiting and had a special evening. Jean-Michel and his wife welcomed us warmly, and we’ll be back to see you. Definitely worth trying if you’re nearby, I highly recommend it.

We had a wonderful dinner after making a reservation. Aux Terrasses is close by wherever you are in Tournus. The guide calls the food creative, and that fits: the flavours were so good, presented in a delicate, unusual, artistic way. The staff were fantastic, explained each serving helpfully, and were quick to take care of anything we needed.

The lunch surprise menu was great value, and the food was exquisite. Service was very good, and the staff spoke excellent English. My one criticism is the background music: pop didn’t seem to fit the restaurant’s refined ingredients, decor, furniture, and utensils. Apart from that, it was a wonderful experience.

The restaurant is outstanding, and the room was very comfortable. It was odd that there wasn’t any coffee in the room, though.

We didn’t stay at the hotel, though it looked great. We had a fantastic six-course lunch with wine pairings and a cheese cart with a wonderful selection. Chef Jean-Michel and the team handled everything beautifully: the dishes, flavours, service, and decor were all amazing. The Michelin star feels well deserved. We look forward to returning when we’re next in the Burgundy/Rhone region. Highly recommend!
