Hôtel & SPA Le Gambetta, Centre-ville, Bergerac

The people were very nice, and breakfast was amazing, with lots of local products. It’s close to the city and not far from the Dordogne river. Parking was easy using a credit card at the automatic payment point.

If I could give zero stars, I would. After I shared my point of view, the property sent me insulting messages. Seriously?

The spa here is great. The sauna, steam room, and hot tub were all very good, and the temperature was just right.

I arrived in the evening and was fine with the basic room. At first glance it looked clean, but the bathroom made me wonder whether it had been cleaned at all. Then I shut the bedroom door and got locked inside because the lock was jammed. The frame was already damaged by tools, so this clearly wasn’t a new problem. In the morning, the shower hose turned out to be broken. Reception thought it had been fixed and gave me a key to use a fourth-floor room, though mine was on the first. That shower had a hose, but only a trickle of cold water, so I gave up and washed at the sink. The breakfast buffet had a lot of choice, but I didn’t think the hygiene was up to standard. The cold cuts weren’t chilled, and they’d been out since 7:15 am; it was 9:00 am by then. I’d taken ages trying to shower, and ended up having no breakfast. I was so annoyed. Staff were a young trainee and a pleasant, well-meaning young woman who seemed inexperienced. To me, the whole experience showed a blatant lack of professionalism.
