Getting our luggage to the room was awkward because the spiral staircase had no handrail. We managed, though luckily we had a backup plan. The reception also felt unwelcoming. We booked five nights but left after three, and in that time nobody cleaned the room or even brought fresh towels, despite the website promising daily housekeeping. The bed was another disappointment: we’d asked for a king, but got two singles pushed together, with spring mattresses we could feel every time we moved. Not much restful sleep on holiday. Breakfast was just two slices of bread, a piece of fruit, two yogurts, which aren’t much use if you’re lactose intolerant, and a piece of homemade cake. We clearly have different ideas of what a continental breakfast is.

The owners were so kind, and there was a lovely little surprise waiting for us when we arrived. The cottage is unusual and really well equipped, in a charming little village that’s especially quiet. Don’t hesitate to book a stay in the Ardèche.

We’d happily come back. The room was lovely, and everything felt peaceful and quiet. Madame Brigitte made us a good breakfast, and the service was excellent.

We had a magical, relaxing week in this peaceful place that feels untouched by time. Brigitte’s breakfast was excellent, and she and her husband Claude shared stories and helpful advice. They were also quick to sort out any little problems. We’ll be back!

The rooms were lovely, the view was incredible, and breakfast was perfect. There was even a swimming pool in the castle courtyard, which made the stay feel perfect. Brigitte and Claude looked after us so well from start to finish. This is a beautiful, distinctive gîte in a charming village. Thanks, and see you soon!
