We used this as a stop for a couple of nights while travelling from Caen towards Spain, and it’s a great location. It’s quiet, with an excellent Super U within walking distance, and they had fresh milk, which isn’t always easy to find. We stayed in our Motorhome, and the team were very friendly, with most speaking excellent English. There’s an Indian restaurant on site too. The shower block was clean, though right at the start of the season the water was cold until I spoke to the staff. We’d definitely stay here on future trips via Caen, and highly recommend it.

The main reason I rated it 3/5 was the showers. Mine only dribbled, and I had to keep pressing the button to keep the water running. My husband’s shower took ages to warm up, so he was really cold by then. A bit of attention to the flow and temperature would make this a much nicer site for us. We stayed one night in April while travelling south, having booked the previous evening and arrived around 2pm. The reception door was locked, but someone was there to check me in, and we could pick our pitch. It was very quiet, with only three other campers. The pitches were a good size, nicely shaded, and near the one sanitary block that was open. It had separate men’s and women’s toilets, three showers, two private washbasins, a laundry room, and washing-up facilities. There was shower gel, toilet paper, and hand soap, but no hand dryer, just a towel that I personally didn’t like using. The indoor washing-up basins had really hot water. The outdoor cold taps were shut off, though we didn’t need them. There’s an Indian restaurant and bar on site, open from 7pm, but we’d already planned our meal. It looked like there was also a shop in reception. Opposite the site, you can walk or cycle along the old railway track, and the town’s Boulangerie, bar, and restaurants are a short walk away.

The village is just a five-minute walk away, with a couple of friendly tabacs and a small supermarket. There’s a larger supermarket about five minutes away by car. Cycle routes start directly opposite the site, which is alongside the River Loire. The campsite was spotless, the facilities immaculate, and the showers were hot. There’s a washing-up room, washing machine, and hand-washing room. The bar and restaurant serves lovely Indian food, either to eat in or take away. Staff were friendly, and the campsite itself was clean and welcoming. I’d definitely stay again if I’m back in the area, and would highly recommend it.

A good place to stop on our way north. The site is nice, with modern facilities, though the men’s showers had no hot water, so I used the disabled shower. In March, one toilet block was closed and the outdoor water points were turned off.

The Saffron restaurant was a real highlight. The food was fantastic, and we live near Manchester, UK, so we know some great Indian restaurants. This one is right up there with the best of them, and there are good options for vegetarians too. The campsite itself is super nice, clean, quiet, and spacious, with warm showers. The owner was really lovely and speaks great English as well as French. We’ll come again, and I’d recommend it 100%.
