The room was clean, and the shower had good pressure. Once we got in, the car park felt secure. Aldi and McDonalds are nearby, though check their opening times, and there’s a shopping centre a short walk away with a really good Chinese buffet. Getting there and checking in was a rough start. After a 12-hour drive, we found the car park locked in the middle of the afternoon. The entrance had no sign, so we drove past it several times. I called the number on the gate, but the man didn’t understand me and hung up. I don’t expect everyone to speak fluently, but knowing a little of the language seems important when welcoming visitors from abroad. I was tired and really upset by then. I eventually found a pedestrian gate, got to reception, and received the code. The receptionist didn’t understand English either, and may have been the same person who answered the phone. The welcome information should include the gate code and a What3Words address. I took the gate photo later, when it was darker.

We got sorted out really well even though we arrived in the early hours. We needed a place as a base, and the secure car park was handy for the car. Our family room was spacious.

For a night or two, Premiere Classe Reims Nord - Betheny works as a budget stop. Check-in was easy, and the small rooms were clean. Some parts of the place look a little worn, though, and the facilities are very basic. It’s convenient for a short stop, but I wouldn’t suggest it for a longer stay or for anyone wanting comfort and more amenities.

The bathroom had a urine smell, which is why I took off one star. Otherwise, the room was clean and quiet, just right for a break on a long drive. Breakfast was mostly sweet and didn’t offer much choice, but seemed fair at 6.50€.
