Yves and Rosa were such lovely hosts, always ready to help, and the whole place felt charming. We had two rooms, one for the adults and one for our two children. There’s a cool courtyard with fruit trees, and the rooms are tastefully done with quality fixtures and a classic French look that suits the 18th-century building. If you enjoy traditional décor, lots of chandeliers, a good breakfast, and a peaceful hideaway, Villa Rosa is a lovely choice.

The rooms are huge and well appointed, and the building’s architecture and atmosphere are really cool. It was built just before the French Revolution. We stopped here for a day while travelling through the south of France and were very impressed. The owner speaks English, Spanish and French perfectly. It can be hard to find, but it’s worth it if you want to stay in the heart of Béziers. Breakfast is well worth having, especially the amazing coffee and melt-in-your-mouth croissants. Call directly to save a bit on booking platform fees.

Rosa suggested Serignan beach on our last day, and that turned out really well: there was hardly anyone there and the water was clean. We also spent the evening in Pezanas, a lovely little town with lots of “hotel particuliers” and art galleries. The house itself is beautiful, an old bourgeois home turned into a B&B, and staying there gives you a feel for that “époque.” The bedrooms were clean, lovely and comfortable, the sheets were very good quality, and the garden felt like a little paradise. Breakfast was served in an attractively decorated room with tasteful tableware. The owners were very nice. Our concerns were mostly about the town and the recommendations. We found Beziers very dirty, poor and unsafe, and didn’t feel three nights there were worthwhile. Your experience may be different for just one night. There isn’t much to do beyond a handful of okay restaurants. The owners’ suggestions didn’t really suit us: I wouldn’t recommend Chichoulet plage, where the water was dirty, service was bad and the bathroom was dirty. The restaurant they suggested was closed the day we arrived.

Yves and Rosa were welcoming and lovely to chat with, and Quechua, the landlord cat, seemed proud of the place. We loved the gorgeous, comfortable room and were wowed by the beautiful riad-style entrance. It was handy to be able to leave our bikes there too. Highly recommend!

The owners keep to themselves, but are nearby if you need to ask anything. It’s a beautiful place, with each room distinct and typically French. I can't recommend it to everyone.
