Ama Hotel is a quiet, stylish place to come back to, with sunlight indoors, salt in the air, and the easy Basque rhythm outside. I woke up feeling like I belonged, part of some little world of surfers, chefs, and dreamers. The real reason to come, though, is Sylvie. She doesn’t just pass you a room key, she gives you a feel for Biarritz. She knows its tide pools, back alleys, and cafés where the coffee is strong and the croissants taste freshly baked, and she’s a guide, confidante, and reminder of what hospitality used to mean, before loyalty programs and laminated welcome packets. If you want a little of that languid Basque magic, this is the place. I’d recommend it in a heartbeat, though maybe keep it a bit of a secret from some friends.

The room was quiet and very comfortable at this lovely boutique hotel in central Biarritz. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and even gave us great tips on places to visit and eat.

It’s a good value, with a location that’s walkable to both the beach and town centre, though set a little back from them. I had a fantastic time here. The rooms were spacious and clean, and the friendly, helpful staff gave us plenty of tips on where to go and what to do.

The location is pretty central in Biarritz, and the room was pleasant. The air conditioning was welcome, the bed was comfy, and the roller blinds made it nice and dark. The bathroom had what you needed, but it was incredibly tiny, with my knees against the wall on the toilet. Breakfast was €12 each. There were a couple of kinds of ham and some cheese, but not much, and it felt like we had to leave enough for everyone else. I would have preferred choosing my own pastries instead of having one each already set out on our table. With no long drive ahead, one of the many nearby cafes might have been a better choice.
