Chateau du Clair de Lune

Although we couldn't stay because my 7-year-old became very ill in the days before our visit, we were impressed by how the hotel handled things. Since we'd booked through an online travel agency, we were told we were already past the point of getting a refund under the cancellation policy. Still, they did their best to rent the room again so they could return part of what we'd paid, which felt more than fair in the circumstances. The two women at the front desk were friendly, responsive, and great communicators. The owners kindly made an exception for us, and did it with warmth and professionalism. We very much look forward to staying there next time we're in Biarritz. Thank you, Chateau du Clair de Lune. We'll remember your hospitality.

We had a perfect ground-floor room for our two dogs, with a porch they could get to, and the hotel's large grounds were great for walking them. We were treated so well from start to finish. The food was lovely and the service impeccable. It's also very close to the motorway, which made access easy while travelling. We love this hotel and would highly recommend it for comfort and service.

The food was a real highlight. We had a tasty casual supper on the terrace overlooking the fountain and grounds, and breakfast the next morning was delightful. Not the usual run of bread, butter, and lunch meats: I ordered a cheese omelette and bacon, and there were pastries, granola, fresh fruit, jams, and coffee with cream. Our ground-floor room was large, with a huge attached bathroom, a big comfortable bed, and thick, soft towels. They also provide robes and slippers, and went out of their way to accommodate our needs. The interior is lovely and reflects the Chateau's heritage. It's owned and run by the original owner's great-grandson. I could keep singing their praises, but you should see for yourself. Definitely come and stay here.

My room was clean, retro in style, and had a high ceiling. Prices were reasonable, and light dinners are available on request. The property has a swimming pool and a spacious garden, with a very relaxing feel. It's worth spending a full day there enjoying wine, snacks, and other activities.
