Residence Izarpean

The setting is really pretty, and Bidart is well placed between Biarritz, St Jean and the inland area. We liked being able to bring our pet, and the green spaces around the residence were a real plus. From our terrace there was a view of greenery and a field, which felt very relaxing. The quiet atmosphere, kind staff and access to the campsite pool were all welcome too. The apartment let things down a bit. It’s showing its age and could use a fresh coat of paint. Cleaning was poor, especially in the toilet, on the tables and dishes, on the floors, and out on the terrace. Also, the listing said there’d be a dishwasher, but we found a washing machine instead. That may sound minor, but on vacation I really don’t want to wash dishes.

We really enjoyed the terrace and the campsite pool, and the residence itself looks lovely. The apartment was another story: it was dirty, damaged, smelled unpleasant, and clearly needs renovating. We spent an hour cleaning when we arrived and had to wash all the dishes ourselves. The bathroom wasn’t pleasant either, and the taps were broken.

We checked out ten days ago and still haven’t received our deposit back, even though we left no damage. The amount they asked for at arrival was exorbitant. The apartment itself was pretty good, but the shared pool was tiny for the number of people using it, with too few loungers. Not sure I’d come back.

We were very happy with this ground-floor apartment. It was clean, well kept, and had everything we needed, including comfortable beds. The terrace opened onto a big garden and a cornfield, with no neighbors looking in. It’s right by the campsite entrance, so we got the benefits without the downsides. There was even a little houseplant to take home when we arrived.
