gite du chêne

We loved the beautiful rooms and how welcoming the host was. The place is ideally situated near Lac du Der. We'll be back!

We stayed for two nights with our group during the 28th Flanders Motorcycle Rally, and the Gîte du Chêne is easy to recommend. The welcome was very warm, and there was secure parking for our motorcycles. Breakfast was very good and set us up to explore the lovely area near Bergues. We'll come back!

The big open area downstairs looks out over fields, hares and other wildlife, and there's a TV, a pool table and some leaflets there too. Breakfast comes with the room and there's plenty of it: coffee, tea, hot chocolate, pastries, bread, brioche, cheese, juice and fruit, all unlimited. The courtyard is spacious and shaded by flowering plants, and guest rooms and houses are available. There’s also a fridge on each floor for drinks. Our room was clean and very comfortable, with its own shower and toilet. The bedding smelled fresh, and the room itself was good quality. The hosts were real professionals, but also made us feel like family, which was reassuring and lovely. A relaxing place, I recommend it.

There’s plenty of parking, and a kitchen is available if you want to use it. We had a superb room with an African theme and all the comforts. The welcome was warm and friendly.
