Camping Campole Navarrosse Plage

The beach is lovely, and its water stays warm because it's shallow, even for small children. The campsite is generally quiet, apart from the area near the snack bar in the evenings. Getting around on foot after dark is risky because the roads are in terrible shape; the maze-like layout doesn't help. Cars aren't really a problem since people drive slowly around children. It's hard to let young kids wander on their own, especially with a channel running around the campsite's edge.

The campsite has recently been renovated, and our mobile home was great. There’s a little private lake with shallow water where you can stand for quite a way, which is handy with young children. They offer activities every day, and there’s a useful grocery shop. You can also rent bikes or board games. We had a pleasant stay, and I recommend the place.

It was very quiet when we visited in May, though it must get busy in summer. The bar and snack bar were open, and the campsite is close to the port and a beach. We had a spacious, clearly marked pitch, number 007, with a very convenient water point. There was a toilet block open nearby. Showers had a bit of a wait in the evening. The campsite is large, clean, and the welcome was friendly.

The setting and the potential for campers and mobile home guests are fantastic. The beach is pleasant, and the entertainment was good, thanks to the staff who helped make up for the rest. We stayed two weeks with our caravan, but the sanitation facilities were unsanitary: toilets were dirty at all hours, and the showers swung between scalding and freezing, with no way to adjust them. Groups of noisy young people played loud music around the toilets, with lyrics that were hard to explain to children, and there was a persistent smell of cannabis. It didn't feel family-friendly. Sadly, we won't come back, and we can't recommend it to caravanners, campers, or motorhome owners. Given the location, it only gets three stars.
