From the house you get great views over the dunes, and the coast is right there at the end of the road. It's only about 10 minutes from Eurotunnel, yet the area is really quiet. The house is stylish and very clean, with modern rooms, comfy beds and a lovely shower. The hosts are lovely too, and parking is really good.

We keep using this place to break up our trip between the UK and Germany, which we make a few times each year, and we'll be back again. This was our second stay in Laura and Fabien's Gite, and we love it. The converted WW2 bunker is great fun for our children, aged 11 and 5, and stays cool when it's hot. The beach is a minute away, so it's easy to enjoy some downtime, while Calais is close enough for the dragons, beaches and town. The ferry and Eurotunnel are just 10-15 minutes away. There's a shop about five minutes away with everything you need, and you can walk into town. The Gite has all the essentials, including a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and a balcony that's lovely for lazy breakfasts or dinner. The family are warm and welcoming, and even let our kids join their game of petonque.

It's a beautiful home in a lovely setting, and the owners are friendly. Just make sure you arrange a ride in advance if you don't have a car. The house is a little outside downtown Calais, and getting around from there is hard without a car. One of the hosts was very kind and managed to drive us to the ferry port when no taxis or Ubers were available.
