Best Western Plus Le Conquerant Rouen Nord

After a long drive, the quiet, cozy, clean room was exactly what we needed. The staff were helpful, dinner at the restaurant was lovely, and breakfast had plenty of choice. We didn’t get to try the spa, but I hope to next time we’re heading to the Eurotunnel.

The hotel is outside the city and has its own parking. Our queen-size bedroom was clean and pretty spacious.

Breakfast was really nice, and the staff were very friendly. Our twin room felt a little tight, with only about 18 inches on either side of the beds, and there was no mini bar. The hotel is around 5km from the town centre, though there’s a decent bus service. We liked La Cantina, about 1km away, and recommend it for dinner.

The room was decent and met expectations, but I’d booked this through Staycation mainly for a chance to relax at the spa. I chose the hotel for the advertised sauna, jacuzzi, and sensorial bath, hoping for a calm break from a hectic work life. Instead, the area seemed neglected: nowhere to hang bathrobes, empty shower gel dispensers, and cleanliness and upkeep below basic standards. It’s surprising, since guests presumably come for leisure and wellness. The spa has potential, and with more regular care and attention to detail, it could be a genuinely relaxing experience. As it was, this was one of my least favorite stays in France.
