Jardin D'Arcy

We got good value from the set dinner and wine. The accommodation and outdoor areas looked lovely, though rain meant we couldn't enjoy them properly. We were passing through France on the drive home and appreciated having private parking off the street behind the property. The entrance was clearly marked, and we received the access code after announcing our arrival at the front gate.

Even though we arrived late tonight, we were greeted warmly. The pool is nice, and the renovation work is finished to a high standard. The grounds and property are fabulous, and the rooms feel huge, with the high ceilings you get in Ireland or England. So far, so good.

The owners are extremely charming, and breakfast was pleasant. The room was nice, but had some definite problems: the curtains and net curtains share a pole, so the main curtains won't close. The bathroom basin is tiny and too high, really just a cloakroom sink, so I couldn't wash my hair there. The mirror was also too high to see myself easily while putting on makeup, and there were no glasses for water. The website mentions a bar and on-site brasserie, but neither was available. We ended up driving along narrow, dark lanes to eat in a village 15 minutes away.

A nice place to rest on the way to Spain, close to the motorway. The rooms and swimming pool were nice.
