Résidence Maora Village

The evening restaurant was a real highlight. There were only two main course choices on the set menu, but we ate there four nights out of seven. One of our less adventurous kids even tried some new food and enjoyed it. Our other child is gluten free, which was harder to manage, though sadly that seemed to be an issue all over Corsica for her. Breakfast was decent continental fare, though eggs would have been a nice addition. Outside, the restaurant did its best against the wasps, but breakfast became a daily scramble to eat before one got into a drink or the kids' food was wasted. The main pool kept the kids happily occupied most days. Sunbeds were sometimes hard to get, and the other pool area could use some attention. We think we may have received an upgrade, since the room had more than expected, and we enjoyed the views. It was right at the top of the resort, though, with steep slopes to deal with, and the walk back up from breakfast or the pool was less fun. It may not suit guests who have trouble getting around. Someone living above seemed very grumpy with the children, which wasn't ideal for hotel guests. There’s no room WiFi unless you pay quite a lot extra. The free pool WiFi was so slow it was nearly useless for looking up plans for the next day. At least the lack of a good connection kept the kids off the TV and devices. The owners were friendly enough, but we often felt as if we were interrupting a party when their friends seemed to be around. It was also hard to tell at times who worked there and who didn’t. Maybe we just had bad timing. We’d still recommend it if you’re visiting the area. The access road has endless potholes, though I don’t know how much say the hotel has in that. Corsica has plenty of lovely places to see, but it’s much more expensive than we’d expected, so it may not suit anyone needing to keep a close eye on spending.
