Camping le Vallon

There are plenty of insects around, even in the toilets, which made it fun to spot praying mantises, lots of butterflies, spiders, and other bugs. The campsite itself is simple and lovely, set in a beautiful landscape, with Bonnieux and its shops and restaurants within walking distance. You can order bakery items at reception. This is an old-school site, so don't expect the luxury setup aimed at the newer generation of campers.

There are three areas to pick from, from a little shade to a forest feel, and all the spots are roomy and lovely. It feels close to nature and quite remote, even though the campsite sits right by the lively village. The crowd was friendly and things stayed calm and quiet. The pool is great and unlike the usual kind. The sanitary facilities were clean, and you can order bread or even a cheese platter. The downsides were the lack of soap and toilet paper, plus the pastries were fairly expensive. Still, I'd happily recommend the place and would love to come back.

The host was really friendly, and the showers were great. The sanitary block is dated, though clean, and very basic: bring your own toilet paper, and there are no toilet seats. The natural pool has hardly any shade, so some large trees or beach umbrellas would make it much nicer. Pitches stay shaded throughout the day, and the site is very quiet, with no main road nearby and quiet hours from 22:00 to 08:00. There are lovely views over Bonnieux and the surrounding mountains.

The pitches are a good size, and you can order bread in advance. The owners are pleasant, and the bathrooms are basic but clean, though you need to bring toilet paper. It's a nice campsite, about a 10-15 minute uphill walk from the town, which has a lovely atmosphere.
