All Suites Appart Hôtel | Bordeaux Centre Gare

We came to Bordeaux for a quick visit to see whether the area could get us into wine. The hotel turned out much better than the wine did. It's a basic, budget place, and some things are a bit rough around the edges, but everything was clean and worked, and the staff were great. The rooms are apartment-style, with a simple European kitchenette. The air conditioning was powerful enough that we had to switch it off sometimes because it got too cold. Breakfast is optional and buffet-style, with bacon, eggs, pastries, bread, cereal, several cheeses, coffee, espresso, tea, and juice. It was well worth it, and the sales pitch didn't make it sound so generous. Get it, and you have one less thing to worry about in the morning and can fuel up for the day. The hotel is near Gare St. Jean and a bus line that connects to downtown trams. The neighborhood seems to be getting de-gentrified, though much of Bordeaux outside the tourist centre feels that way.

The apartment has a kitchen and plenty of room for two. Nearby, there's a fresh produce market where you can buy fruit, vegetables, and seafood, though it closes at 2pm each day. The location is also next to the University of Bordeaux Faculty of Science building and student housing, and within walking distance of the market.

The staff were friendly and welcoming, and being near the train station made arrival easy. I'd recommend this place to anyone after a comfortable stay at a good price.

The beds and rooms were lovely, and the mini kitchen with a fridge was handy. The cathedral is a 30-minute walk away, with supermarkets within walking distance too. Parking is available.
