Ecolodge Des Chartrons

We really enjoyed Ecolodge and would gladly return. It’s central, around a 10-minute walk to the city centre, and the space is gorgeous and tastefully decorated. Veronique helped us find lovely places to eat and book wine tasting tours. Her organic homemade jams and breakfast were a joy to wake up to, and the linens and amenities were high quality.

Ecolodge des Chartrons is near the river and lots of restaurants, and I loved its distinctive Bordeaux charm. Staying there felt like being in a secret castle. It was quiet, with comfortable beds, a nice shower, and tasteful decor. The hosts went out of their way for us. My only disappointment was that their adorable beagle didn’t stay with me.

Veronique made us feel at home, and her breakfast was wonderful. Her directions around town were so helpful, and she even went out of her way to retrieve my husband’s camera from the tourist center so we wouldn’t have to spend time doing it ourselves. She was right about the Viking Ship being just a short walk down the street. We were very pleased with the Ecolodge accommodations and would recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing place in Bordeaux. Thanks, Mary & Thomas Conner.

The building is nice and the room was clean, but I came with high expectations and left disappointed. My room had no window, so it became stuffy, and the air got so dry at night it was hard to breathe. Breakfast was just a few slices of bread, without even jam. Arnaud emailed that the room would cost 270, but I was charged 290 at checkout with no explanation. These details make a real difference to the experience. I don’t think I’d return or recommend the place, and every room should have a window.
