ibis Bordeaux Centre Gare Saint Jean

For a week-long work trip, the location was ideal: right by the train station, under a five-minute walk to the tram, and with a well-stocked supermarket around the corner. The staff were friendly, helpful, and spoke very good English. Check-in and checkout were quick and easy. Our room matched the online description, clean and comfortable though not large, and the air conditioning was a blessing during a very hot week. Breakfast was excellent, with continental fare, plenty of extras, and local specialties. All in all, great for the price. I'd heartily recommend it to anyone visiting Bordeaux for work.

The room was clean and quiet, and breakfast was fresh and good. Their Madeleine cake was especially tasty.

The hotel is near the train station but away from the central shopping area. The surrounding area apparently feels unsafe and isn't pleasant to walk around near dark, so check it out before booking. I was disappointed by the basics: there was no tea or coffee setup in the room, and each cup from the bar cost 3 euros. We had just one bath towel each and no hand towels. During our three-night stay, rubbish and dirty dishes weren't removed from the room.

The staff are really friendly, and the bar area is quiet and relaxed. The hotel is about ten minutes from the station, with a Lidl roughly eight minutes away for anything you need. Rooms are pleasant but small. We were on the fourth floor, where the heating and air conditioning unit didn't work, which seems to have happened to other guests too. The shower was okay, though the temperature kept changing and the short screen let water splash onto the floor. Couples might need to ask for another towel, since there were only three in the room. Traffic outside was heavy but not too disruptive. We mainly used the hotel to sleep, so it wasn't a bad place to stay.
