This large botanical garden and public park is free to explore, with plenty of people relaxing on the grass or playing with their kids. We saw a group of about 50 people dancing in pairs to lively old-fashioned music. The dogs seemed well behaved and friendly, and there’s lots of shade when you need a break from the sun. There’s a little river crossed by bridges, where it’s fun to watch the big fish and ducks swim. It was breathtaking to wander around, and a great place to get some steps in outdoors. I’d highly recommend it.

The Orangerie Cafe is a nice place to stop for a noisette and cake in these lovely public gardens near the center of Bordeaux. The natural history museum is worth seeing too, especially on a rainy day.

The park is beautiful and has lots of space. As a South African, it was a bit of a culture shock to see people sunbathing on the lawn in swimsuits 👙. At first, with so many people dressed for swimming, I figured there had to be a pool in the park. Turns out there isn’t 😄😄

This is such a lovely, well-kept park, clean and quiet, with lots of room and shade when it’s hot. The large lake and the area around the bridge are beautiful, and you can even take a short boat trip on the river to see wildlife. There’s a botanic garden, a restaurant-bar on the terrace, and a small ice cream cafe. Kids can enjoy the playground and puppet show, and the natural History museum is in one corner. Great for a picnic or a stroll, and a must-see in Bordeaux.
