Maison Manège

A comfortable bed and everything we needed in the room made this a great stay. The centre of Bordeaux is an easy walk away, so it worked really well for our city break. Great accommodation in a super location!

Marie-Thérèse, the house manager, was helpful both before and during my stay, and the bed was comfortable. The location felt safe and quiet, with everything walkable. Still, there were a few drawbacks for the price, so I’d probably choose somewhere else next time in Bordeaux. There was barely any water pressure in my Pantanal room, which made showering difficult. There’s no elevator or help with bags, and the spiral staircase has steep, shallow steps that felt challenging, nearly dangerous, with luggage. I also couldn’t open the windows for fresh air without letting bugs in, since there are no screens. There was no air conditioning either, which would have made the sunny April days more comfortable. I can’t imagine what summer is like. The hotel is nicely renovated and well located, but those issues kept it from being a five-star stay.

Marie-Therese was welcoming and informative, and the hotel is in a great spot near plenty of cafés and restaurants. I was in Panacal: the room was spacious and quiet, with a very comfortable bed. The shower was another story, there was hardly any water pressure. There’s no elevator, and the steps are very short, so hauling suitcases up is difficult and could be dangerous. I didn’t buy breakfast, so I can’t comment on it.

In the Mandalay room, I found a clean, lovely and comfortable space, with a great bathroom and shower. It’s right in the heart of the city, close to beautiful sights and good places to eat. A great spot for a few nights in Bordeaux.
