Hôtel Notre Dame

For a two-night business trip, Hôtel Notre Dame worked well for the price. My room was comfortable, the staff were welcoming and helpful, and they offer room service too. It's a straightforward hotel rather than a luxury one, but the quality for the price felt solid. One thing to bear in mind: there's no elevator to the third floor, so you'll need to use the stairs. I was out most of the day, so it didn't bother me. If you want a well-located, reasonably priced place for a short stay in Bordeaux, it's a good option, as long as you're prepared for the stairs on the upper floors.

Anaïs was a huge help and a real credit to the hotel. The location is great, and everything was what we expected for the price. We were more than happy with Hotel Notre Dame and would definitely stay again.

We paid €96 for one night, from the 22nd to the 23rd of November. While we were having a bath on the morning of the 23rd, the water was cut off because of excessive consumption. A reception staff member told us this would happen only a couple of minutes beforehand, so we had to leave without even brushing our teeth. We know we had the right hotel, though we wish we'd chosen somewhere else. The hotel also replies to Google reviews with falsehoods, trying to improve its reputation. At the very least, it should acknowledge the poor service and apologize.

The location in Chatrons is very convenient, and both the centre and St. Jean station are easy to reach. But it was noisy outside even with the windows shut. There's no elevator, and the room had a lot of quirks. The WiFi was patchy, the shower pressure was very low, and I had to use a lot of the watered-down shower gel to feel like I'd actually washed with soap. There was no shampoo, and the bathroom towel hooks were nearly coming off. The kettle wasn't plugged in, and its short cord wouldn't reach any outlet we found. We didn't want to move it under the table or elsewhere. The entrance light switch did nothing, so we had to turn on the bathroom light to see our way to the far end of the room. The switches by the bed also wouldn't work independently, and we had to fiddle with both sides to get the lights to work. The curtains only moved from one side to the other. With the high window open, they kept getting stuck and made it hard to close the window again. Most of the service was friendly, and breakfast was pretty good for a three-star hotel.
