DoubleTree by Hilton Paris Bougival

That pomegranate tree outside our window, full of fruit, was an unexpected highlight of our three nights at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Bougival. We were on one stop of a 15-day tour through eight European countries, and the tree made the stay feel special. The room was spotless except for the old refrigerator, which had some questionable sticky residue inside. The building has an older feel, most obvious in the dated elevator, but the room itself was comfortable. Our king bed was very spacious and comfortable, and the sofa was great for relaxing and watching TV. We didn’t use the sofa bed. There was plenty of storage and a small workbench for a laptop. The bathroom had a separate toilet and double sinks, though the bathtub felt old-fashioned. We arrived before the regular check-in time, and the staff let us in early thanks to my Hilton Gold status. The service was excellent, and the comfortable room made this a memorable stop despite a few signs of age.

My family stayed here for a holiday in late December last year. I asked for a special room arrangement at short notice, and the staff had it all prepared nicely. They were very friendly and helpful. We had a fantastic stay.

The restaurant staff were attentive and clearly dedicated to their work. At reception, Sabrina was especially helpful, taking the time to give thorough answers whenever I had questions. The other staff were kind and professional as well, though I can’t recall everyone’s names. The hotel felt friendly, the rooms were clean, and breakfast was excellent. I highly recommend staying here.

My husband and I stayed for a week, and it was one disappointment after another. The outside looks luxurious, but indoors the hotel is well below average. Staff gave us conflicting information about getting water each day because of my husband’s Diamond status. One night, a receptionist rudely refused, and her behavior was unprofessional. The hot water hardly worked properly, and breakfast was tasteless and low quality. The place let us down across the board. I’d give it half a star if I could, definitely not worth staying.
