Plage de Petite Anse is a lovely natural place, but what I saw there on Saturday, 19th October 2025, was upsetting. I go snorkelling a lot in Guadeloupe, and the water looked cloudy even though it was sunny and clear. I saw turtles and balloon fish, then came across exotic dead fish floating in the water. While searching for what might be wrong, I found a whole bar of soap on the seabed. It was slowly breaking down and leaving a cloud of little white particles in the water for about 10-15 meters around it. I decided to clean up the seabed and found plastic everywhere. It will break down into microplastic and put the coral reef, fish, and turtles in danger. There's a particular spot about 10-15 meters from shore, in the middle of the beach, at 5-6 meters deep, where a lot of rubbish collects: car parts, plastic cups from the nearby bars, bottles, wipes tangled with coral, electric wires, and metal cans. It's easy to spot, but nobody seems to care. The beach has plenty of parking, including shaded spaces, and tables nearby where you can sit and eat. I usually go there with friends to discover new beaches and spend a nice day, but this place needs intervention. We're destroying it. The local businesses don't seem concerned. The bars smell of alcohol, and although they clean their own premises, they don't clean around them, so rubbish from the businesses ends up harming the wildlife and nature nearby. I know some of it is theirs because I found the same plastic cups on the seafloor that they served my ice cream in. Anyone who uses this beach should know what's happening. Follow @kinkawa on instagram. They have beach-cleaning solutions and might be able to help here if people support them.

Nice little spot for snorkeling, and it's lovely to watch the sunset there.

The coconut flour pancakes from the little stand were delicious, and we even spotted iguanas both on the beach and in the water. It's a small beach with plenty of palm shade. The water was calm, and we saw some lovely fish. I really enjoyed it.

There may be fishermen near the shore, so don't get too close to them. A buoy is a good idea when snorkeling along the coast, and watch out for boats speeding past.

Absolutely gorgeous, like a heavenly postcard.
